1/9 people have or will have Alzheimer's in their lifetime. This terrible disease permeates the fabric of the family, waging war not only on the physical and psychological health of the ill and their family, but on their spiritual integrity too. Whereas most bodily diseases can be fought and prolonged by the spirit of the afflicted, this mental illness renders the victim incapable of fighting for themselves, requiring family and community members to step in and share the immense burden, often foregoing their own needs entirely. Let us celebrate our community of supporters who have withstood unparalleled tests of their spirits, and pray that our research dollars will have the healing effect that we all know it can.
