This is my 8th year participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. I walk not only to honor my mom's memory, but also for her cousin, Todd, and the millions of Americans affected by this devastating disease.
Almost every day, I encounter someone struggling with the impact of caring for someone with memory loss. There is no cure and the first survivor is still out there!
The years I spent caring and advocating for my mom changed me forever. I now volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association, serving as the Board Chair of the Long Island Chapter, facilitate a monthly caregiver support group, work with lawmakers at the state and Federal levels to advocate on behalf of people living with Alzheimer's/dementia and their caregivers, and of course, raise funds through the Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Please help us save the memories of those we love. For those of you who have supported my fundraising efforts in the past – thank you! I would be so grateful if you would consider supporting me again.
