Nanny was smart, funny, sometimes stubborn, and cared deeply for her husband Jerry, her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a speech pathologist, which came hand in hand with her descriptive poems, stories, journal entries and many wins in Scrabble.

Pauline "Polly" Appel was a sweet, kind and caring mother, grandmother and wife. With the sweetest smile and the calmest voice, Polly knew how to talk to anyone and lift their spirits if needed. She was also an excellent cook who baked the tastiest desserts, especially pinwheel cookies.

I'm volunteering for the Greater New Jersey Chapter and their Walk to End Alzheimer's events to help support those impacted by Alzheimer's, dementia and other related diseases in the New Jersey community.
