This is a not very recent picture of my parents, my brother, and me. My folks have passed, but they and my brother have all been affected by Alzheimer's. Of course I worry every time I forget something - but all my friends my age seem to do that. I'm walking and volunteering with the Alzheimer's Assn in honor of them and too many others in my family tree who have been affected by this wretched disease.  I love them all, and want to do what I can so someday no one else will have to experience this. People ask - did they forget your name? - If only it were that simple!  Dementia is a syndrome in which there is progressive deterioration in cognitive function beyond what might be expected in normal aging.  Check out "Know the 10 Signs" on the Alz.org site to see the difference.  Alzheimer's affects memory, thinking, orientation, calculation, comprehension, learning capacity, and judgment.
