Of course we are walking for Phill (aka-Dad, Papa Phill)
2023. Dad has now been healed 3 years. We still miss him and think of him daily. I think he would be really proud of his grandkids right now!!!! We will walk on Sept. 9th at Riverside Park. Anyone can walk --Anyone can donate. We would love to have you join us this year.
2022. Dad has been healed for 2 full years at the time of his birthday, March 4. Mom wanted to honor his birthday this year with registering our team early and starting our donations for the walk in Sept. Papa Phill lived with Alzheimer's for 16 years, with Mom taking care of him 24/7 till the end. We had so much help and support from Hospice and the Alzheimer's Association. We still fill that it is very important to find a cure for this awful disease and the best way we can is to walk and donate for a cure.
2020 Dad will not be with us for the walk this year because he is now (February 5, 2020) completely healed and in Heaven. Mom has been an amazing Proverbs 31 lady. She was on duty with him 24/7 for the 16 years dad lived with Alzheimer's. Especially, thankful for Ms. Gloria who sat with them Monday-Friday and for Ms. Betty who was there every afternoon. My Dad loved Ms. Betty. Very blessed for Chaplain Jonathan Casstevens who visited every Wednesday and was there with us this last week of dad's life. For all the friends and family that stopped by with a surprise dinners and conversation----we are comforted in that.
With Dad's passing we have asked that donations be made to the Mt. Airy Alzheimer's Walk. The walk will be alot different this year. You can walk in your neighbor hood or favorite trail but there will only be a flower memorial this year in Mt. Airy.
I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
Thank you,
Vickie
