I’m the youngest of “Miss Heddie’s Kids”. She called me Ann for short….and would often beam with pride and introduce me as “her baby girl”. I was moms caregiver and I thank God everyday, to have had the opportunity to be there in that capacity for her. I was able to share more time and gather more memories over those years as a caregiver, than I believe I could have otherwise. She loved her family, friends, her church, church family and children! Her love for children blessed hundreds of them, during her many years as a Guidance Counselor in the Guilford Co. School System. She was a quiet woman of few words. But her presence spoke volumes!! The impact she left on our community and communities across the states spoke volumes!! Caring for my mom helped me become more educated about dementia and pushes my drive to help find a cure!
I walk to honor my mom and the phenomenal woman she was. Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we! By participating in the Alzheimer’s walk, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against the disease. Funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and while accelerating critical research. Please consider making a donation and/or register as a participant. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
