Alzheimer's hit my family hard when it attacked my mom.  One of the first noticeable skills mom lost, after the increasing confusion set in, was her ability to walk. Her ability to recognize me as her daughter was heartbreaking, but there was so much more to come. When mom lost her ability to speak, all she could do was scream and when I looked into her eyes, I could see how scared she was being trapped inside what was then becoming a very useless body. This disease took everything away from my mother except those who loved her.  We stayed with her, even when she no longer knew who we were.  I lost my mother's body in 2017.  Sadly, I lost my mom before then.
