I walk to END ALZHEIMER'S in remembrance of the one's I love. I walk to END ALZHEIMER'S so that one day nobody will wake up wondering is this the last day I will remember my wife, my children, my family. I walk to END ALZHEIMER'S so one day you will not have to look at someone you love and think will they remember me tomorrow.
My great-grandmother was the first to be diagnosed so there is Dementia in my family line. When my Grandmother started showing signs I lived out of state. One day I visited her in the nursing home and the women I loved and admired, one of the most important people in my life didn't even know who I was. When my Aunt Irene started showing signs of Alzheimer's when she was 60 years old it was hard. To watch someone you love go through losing their memories a little at time it heart breaking. The last time I visited my Aunt she was showing me old pictures of her niece Sue Sue, yes that is what she called me, I was sitting right next to her and she had no idea who I was. She passed a couple of years later. I have had a good friend pass from the Alzheimer's and now I have a very good friend who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's at age 55 he passed away last year at age 64.
I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
