My father-in-law, Ron, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s approximately 7 years ago. He was very fortunate to have an amazing wife, who would do anything she could to keep him comfortable living at home all those years, even though there were days when he would ask "when are we going home?".
On March 4 of this year, Ron came down with pneumonia and was hospitalized for 3 weeks and then passed away. We miss him terribly but know that he is in a much better place.
Mark and I have been volunteering for the WALK for several years now. In years past, we were doing this TO HONOR Ron, but this year we are doing it IN MEMORY of him. Mark and I know first-hand, like many of the people we volunteer with, that raising money for research is the only way a cure with be found and supporting this WALK is the way to do it.
This is such a horrible disease, and I am sure everyone knows at least one person who has this disease. WE ALL MUST GET INVOLVED TO HELP FIGHT THIS DISEASE. If you are one of the lucky ones, who does not personally know someone suffering from Alzheimer's, it is just a matter of time.
ARE YOU READY TO JOIN THIS FIGHT? THERE ARE 2 WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
1. Join/Form a Team and participate in the walk on September 23 at the St. Charles Community College. If not local, you can still register and/or join a team. Start a fundraiser on FB and share your WHY. Friends and family will donate.
2. Make a Donation to advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
