I’m raising funds and awareness for Alzheimer's disease in honor of my Mom Lynda who was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer's disease in 1998 at the age of 53 and passed away in 2010 at the age of 66 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Lynda was smart, spontaneous, lively, funny and could talk faster than anyone around her. She was three years into the disease in 2001 when our oldest daughter Anna was born and got to know her briefly before she moved into a nursing home in 2004 and was largely unable to communicate for the remainder of her life. Our twins Gracie & Ella were born in 2005 and they never really got to know their Grandma since her personality was mostly gone by that point. This year I joined the board of the Alzheimer's Association to support new treatments now becoming available that allow the effects of Alzheimer's disease to be delayed so people with this disease can have more quality time with their families and loved ones. I am also raising funds to allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research. Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them.
