For the past four years I have worked at the Alzheimer's Association and I know this organization as one committed to supporting families impacted by dementia and Alzheimer's, and advocating for legislation to fund research all around the world. I work with colleagues many of whom have lost a family member to this devastating disease. I know how dedicated this staff and organization is to being there for people living with the disease and their caregivers and to finding a cure and an end to Alzheimer's.
I am walking in honor of the people I have met through the course of my work-- those living with dementia, the dedicated caregivers who are there for them, those working in memory care facilities and health care and folks who advocate for more attention & resources to fight this devastating disease.
This is such a hopeful time for realizing an end to this disease-- with the advancements in treatments that can actually slow the progression of the disease for those in early stages. This is just the beginning!
