I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I spent the last 7 years of my mom's life watching her slip away. Not able to remember how to carry on a conversation, not remember what year it was or remember the fond memories I had of my childhood. She became someone I didn't recognize, not the mom I knew for so very many years. Thirty years before this we watched her father slip away from this disease as well. There was no treatment and no cure 30 years ago, there was no treatment or cure for my mom, PLEASE, PLEASE join me in trying to find a treatment, and a cure before my kids have to lose me to this disease.
