As an employee of the Alzheimer's Association I was prepared for the long goodbye. I was not prepared for the rapid decline of both the primary care giver as isolation and age were major factors during Covid. I was fortunate to work remotely during the pandemic and was able to be a caregiver when needed spending weeks at a time in Chicago. Dad did make sure Mom was moved to Ashville before he lost his battle with Stage 4 kidney failure in October 2021. Mom lost here battle with COPD and Alzheimer's in December of 2021. I can say I was prepared but losing both within a two and a half month timeframe was jarring.
