As many, if not all of you know, my mom has dementia/Alzheimer's. I am walking in early October with her careteam in the hopes of raising money for the purpose that future generations do not have to endure what both she and I are experiencing.
She knows me, some of the time. She cries on me, most of the time. She is paranoid, anxiety ridden, and a flight risk. She is unable to perform basic tasks such as opening a microwave, navigating my house or letting out the dogs.
She is in a residential facility that specializes in dementia care.
The cost alone for her care is ... well... staggering.
If the little I can raise is useful for finding a cure. There are hundreds of thousands of dollars that people can use in their retirement instead of spending it to keep their loved ones safe.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you!
