I lost my Mom, Connie Hebert Garaudy, on May 31, 2012 after a 2 year battle with Alzheimer's. Being her caregiver, I got to see firsthand what this horrible disease does to not only the person diagnosed with it, but the entire family. To walk into a room and not have your parent recognize you or remember your name is so heartbreaking. When Mom passed, I wanted to do whatever I could to ensure that one day there might actually be an Alzheimer's survivor. My family and friends formed our team and participated in our first Walk to End Alzheimer's just a few months after Mom passed away. I pray that a cure can be found, if not in my lifetime, at least for my children's generation.
