"Put me in Coach - I'm ready to play!"
Centerfield was one of Mom's favorite songs - she loved to sing and dance to it because it was about the sport she loved (and she loved to dance to just about anything)! She was little, but oh so powerful - and one of her nicknames was Mighty Mouse. People would often underestimate her and I was so proud to watch her hit that ball way out into center field!
When I played softball in Ohio, the gals on my team couldn't wait for Mom to visit in the summer. We would let her play with us and she was a big hit! Most of us were 20-30 year olds and here was this Senior Softball Granny showing us up. :-)
Her women's senior softball team traveled around the country and won many tournaments. She actually won the World Series for her age group in 2004! I have her World Series ring and it's one of my prized possessions.
I would be so honored to have you join me in this Walk to celebrate Mom's passion for softball and her enthusiasm for life that was taken from all of us way too soon!
Blessings!
