When I started my journey into what I would have never thought would be my long-term career, I met someone who changed my life in more ways than I could ever realize. Gene Meyer. Gene was battling a disease that I thought I understood but he quickly showed me that I really did not know anything at all. Gene taught me patience, he taught me how to put myself into other people’s world and really slow down, he taught me ways to help redirect the anger that is oftentimes experienced with this ugly, ugly disease. Most of all, Gene and his angel of a wife, Teresa, taught me what true love really looks like. This year and every year, I walk in honor of the one, the only, Gene Meyer.
