This photo was taken in 2005 at my very first Walk to End Alzheimer's event in Chicago. I've participated in 16 Walks since, never knowing that this lifelong passion was leading me to where I am today.
I know I don't post on social media very often, but I have the most incredible news to share today… I have started a new position in the role of Walk Manager for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's Fox Valley and South Suburban locations.
Alzheimer's disease has significantly impacted my life both personally and professionally. Being blessed with loving grandparents led me down a path of serving older adults which I am beyond grateful for. Having now worked in senior care for more than 25 years, my stories and experiences with Alzheimer's disease are countless. As a granddaughter, as a social worker, as a caregiver..... I have often times felt helpless and hopeless. I walk and I fundraise each year because it helps me find strength, knowing that one day there will be a cure, there may be a life spared of this disease, there may be a family who gets extra days, extra years with the ones they hold so dear.
I am proud and honored to assist in the ongoing fight against Alzheimer's and other dementias. Please reach out if you are interested in joining me at either our Fox Valley (St. Charles) or South Suburban (Tinley Park) 2023 Walk Events or if you would like more information on ways to support the Alzheimer's Association.
If you know someone impacted by Alzheimer's or other dementia, if this cause speaks to your heart, or if you just want to feel great about doing something great…. I ask that you please consider making a donation, register to join my team Walking on Sunshine or participate directly by registering a team of your own to begin fundraising efforts.
Thank you!
Alzheimer's isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you!
