My brother Paul is my inspiration! He was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease in September of 2015 at age 52. He passed away August 29, 2021. My brother handled his diagnosis with such strength and courage and there was not a day that went by that I was not in awe of him. His positive attitude was amazing! Unfortunately I am also walking to honor my dad who passed away from dementia in 2019, and my grandmother who also had Alzheimer's.
I am also walking in support of my mom who has dementia.
Unfortunately it was too late to find a cure for my brother, but I am walking so my children will not have to experience this disease. It is the only disease where you experience 4 deaths, the diagnosis, moving them to a facility, when they no longer know you, and then their final death. This disease is harder on the family than it is on the person with the disease.
IT IS ONE OF ONLY A FEW DISEASES WITH NO CURE!
