Update, August 2020
From 23 family members last year to no walk this year. But that doesn’t mean the Alzheimer’s Association doesn’t need our support. The fundraising lasts until the end of the year. Will you help? Thank you.
Update, August 17, 2019
A week from today, the BOM Squad will be walking again to end Alzheimer’s. This year we will be a bigger presence, with 18 of my family members walking together, and one along for the ride in her stroller. I am more than thrilled that so many have accepted my invitation to this event. I can’t wait for Saturday and the family party we will have after the walk. If you feel moved to donate, we would be delighted to surpass our goal of $1,500.
Thank you!
Update, August 25, 2018: Our team was eight strong this morning for our first Walk to End Alzheimer’s. What a touching event this is. Thanks to so many of you who supported us on this venture, we raised $870 for Alzheimer’s research. We will be back next year, bigger and better!
BOM Squad will be taking a walk next Saturday to raise money for Alzheimer's research. We are doing this Because Of Mom, who will not benefit one bit from any breakthroughs on preventing, treating, and possibly curing Alzheimer's. This disease does horrible things to the victim, but it affects that person's loved ones as well. It is emotionally wrenching to realize that the person who gave you life does not know who you are, or remember having children.
There is no history of Alzheimer's in my mom's family. This disease doesn't play favorites or play by any rules. I had no idea the extent of the destruction this disease causes until I had to witness it first-hand. If you haven't already, please support our team in our fund-raising efforts. And if you have, thank you from everyone who has come face-to-face with Alzheimer's.
