Meet Marathon Marilyn... My Mama.. My Inspiration... By far the kindest and most selfless woman I know. Why "Marathon Marilyn?" because my Mama completed 16 marathons after the age of 42. The picture of health, a bundle of energy always ready to go and do... At the age of 76 Mama was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. The day she was diagnosed she called to tell me and then to inform me that she would be partaking in a clinical study so that maybe she could be a part of the cure. Mama moved into an assisted living facility a few years ago and within two years of moving in she had to be moved to a memory unit as her disease has progressed rather rapidly. My heart is broken that this disease is taking my precious mama from me and from my family. Please help me to bring an end to this disease... it's not just my desire...and wish, but it's Mama's ... she said so!
