This is my 31st year, supporting the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia.  

On Valentine's Day this year, we lost another dear friend to this disease and related illnesses. Maryanne Lorenz, longtime friend from Syracuse, NY, had been suffering from Alzheimer's for several years. She had to move to a Memory Care Facility and then to skilled nursing. Her health deteriorated over the past year. I am walking this year in I am walking in HONOR of my cousin, Ann Marie Campolo, friends, RizMinetto, Ann Nave, (form of Dementia), Mrs. Betty Valdez (formmentia), neighbor Andy Wolf and Joe Abel (Form of Dementia) and all those afflicted with this disease!

As always, I continue to walk in MEMORY of my Dad, Cosimo Muolo - 1997, Aunt Toni D'Eredita - 2009, Aunt Betty Muolo Chillemi - 2019, Jennie Paone - 1988, Josephine Tucci - 1992, John Skelly - 1992, John Bowe - 1992, Ron Barnell – 1998, John Rudnick, Sr. - 2001, Guerino Federico - 2005, Mrs. Angela Capasso - 2007, Mrs. Shirley Grower - 2008, Angela Czerwinski - 2015, Rose DeSocio Barzee - 2016, Sandy Ritzenhaler - 2016, Connie Calcagnino - 2020, Joseph Faruggia - 2020, Anne DeSantis - 2021, Shirley Scali - 2021, Susan Kern - 2021, Eva Blowers - 2021 and Tina Romanzi - 2021,  Rosemarie Rudnick (Dementia) - 2022, as well as everyone else who has passed away from this disease.

I started my involvement with the Alzheimer's Association of CNY (Syracuse) at the first Memory Walk in 1992, and also was a member of the Walk Committee for many years. We organized Off-Site Memory Walks with all Lincoln Middle School students and fellow teachers from 1994 - 2010, raising over $30,000 for the CNY Chapter. In 1996,  I was honored as the CNY Alzheimer's Association Volunteer of the Year. Upon my retirement and moving to Sarasota in 2012, I have been supporting both the Sarasota/Manatee County and Syracuse/Onondaga County walks.

in 2021, I was asked to join the Sarasota/Manatee County Walk Planning Committee. Last year, I continued as a member of the planning committee. With your donations, we were able to raise over $4,000 combined for the 2021 & 2022 Walks!

This year, I am continuing as a member of the Sarasota/Manatee Walk planning Committee for the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease in Sarasota/Manatee Counties. The walk will take place on October 28th, 2023, at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. It will be bigger and better than ever!
