There are nearly 6 million in the U.S. are living with Alzheimer's and other Dementia. 17 billion hours of unpaid dementia care is provided by friends and family. The Alzheimer's Association is the largest organization in the world dedicated to dementia education/awareness, caregiver support and research fund-raising.
As a Physician Assistant in Dementia care for almost 25 years, I have seen the toll Dementia takes on my patients and their loved ones. And I personally know the sadness, having lost my father to the disease. I am the proud captain of Optum Memory Marchers and we are on the quest for the first Alzheimer's Survivor. I am very excited about the community outreach the Association is doing and their backing of promising research/medication development to battle Dementia. Your support means so much! Here's how you can help:
1. Join our team as a "walker"- it is free to register!
2. Recruit friends, family and coworkers!
3. Donate!
4. Walk with us in November, wherever you are!
Please reach out to me if you want to learn more about the Alzheimer's Association and all they have to offer or if you would like to volunteer.
Thank you, Maria
