We invite you to join and support our team in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, the world's most extensive event aimed at raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, research, and support. Alzheimer's is a degenerative disease that begins with mild memory loss and can ultimately lead to an inability to communicate or react to the surroundings.
The year 2022 was full of ups and downs for the Alzheimer's Association and everyone affected by Alzheimer's disease. From allegations of research fraud to the FDA's approval of Lecanemab, a new Alzheimer's medication that offers Alzheimer's patients the opportunity to live longer and slower progression of the disease. We hope that in 2023, we will see more research and trials on the efficacy of Lecanemab and other treatments. Your contributions will provide care and support to all those affected by Alzheimer's, promote research towards treatment and prevention, and advocate for the needs and rights of those impacted by Alzheimer's.
Our team, Warriors for Beanie, was established in tribute to Michael's mother, Arlene Cohen (Beanie), who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease (also known as younger-onset Alzheimer's) during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 at the age of 61.
We encourage you to participate in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, where participants carry flowers, each symbolizing their commitment to ending Alzheimer's disease. Our participants, like flowers, do not give up when confronted with obstacles but continue to raise funds and awareness in the quest for a breakthrough in the fight against Alzheimer's and all other dementias.
