My grandmother, Dana Brinkley, is the embodiment of selflessness. She wears her heart on her sleeve and gives the best, warmest grandma-hugs. Her carrot cake was the Christmas table staple growing up. Every chance she got, she spoiled my brother and me with trips to Toys"R"Us and then to Burger King to top it all off. Watching the Mimi we know fade away has been nothing short of tragic for my family. We hold on to the glimpses of her we still can see, whether it is through her love of vanilla ice cream or the occasional wink and smile she will shoot you from across the room.
I wanted to get involved with the Alzheimer's Association as my way of being on the helping side of this horrible disease. In an ideal world, no one would lose a loved one to this disease. Please donate and be a part of the change. If you are not able, we ask that you spread kindness and warmth, something my grandmother did better than anyone. To know her is to love her.
