Hey there - I’m Kelly Crompton, founder of Because of Dogs, a small business devoted to building a community of people who love dogs and appreciate the many ways they teach and help us.
Because dogs have played a big part in helping me through some challenging times, I decided to incorporate that into my business. The name "Because of Dogs" refers to all of the ways dogs teach and help us: Because of dogs, I get outside more. Because of dogs, I have more confidence talking to people. Because of Dogs, I’ve learned to enjoy each moment. And so on!
And now I’m excited for Because of Dogs to be the captain of the Cutest Pet Contest to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association through the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Eastern CT.
Did you know that pets (not just dogs!) can help alleviate some of the symptoms people struggling with Alzheimer’s often experience, such as anxiety, aggression, depression, and loneliness? Pets provide much needed companionship, as well as a sense of purpose. And service dogs, in particular, can help with small tasks, which in turn offers a bit more autonomy for a person with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of all your pets, and hope I’ll even get a chance to meet a few when I’m out in the community!
