Hi, my name is Carolyn Collins and this is my good friend Shea. Shea is my therapy puppy. Her only job is to bring me joy and make me smile...Shea is very good at her job!  Shea will be walking with my family in September to raise funds to support Alzheimer’s research! 

Sadly, Carolyn lost her battle with Alzheimer's on January 27th, 2023.  Below is her story.

I was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s 10 years ago at the young age of 61. Now, I am fighting what is considered late stage Alzheimer’s! I am literally unable to do anything for myself. I cannot walk or talk. My smile is the only form of communication I have left! Full disclosure, my husband Rick is writing my cover page for me. We have been married for 52 years and he knows me so well! We have been blessed with 2 wonderful children and 6 beautiful grandchildren who make up my incredible support team! I am fundraising to honor my loving family who have put their lives on hold to support and care for me! In my heart I know and love them, but in my mind, the memories are lost! I see their faces and I want to call them by name and tell them I love them, but the names and the emotions won’t come! I hear their beautiful voices, but I don’t understand the words! I have lost so much! They have lost so much! I have lost my memory, my mobility, my identity and my dignity! This is so unfair, it is so cruel! I am the first in my family to be stricken with this devastating disease. Please, dear God, let me be the last! I pray for a cure so future generations are spared the pain of such a heartbreaking loss!
