Update, Aunt Rhoda passed away early 2021...
I walk for my dad's sister, my Aunt Rhoda. She is doing her best to live with dementia but has now entered the stage of being lost more often than she is aware. In June, she was able to come to my dad's birthday party and she had a wonderful day of mental acuity where she could be part of many memories. The time was a gift that we will treasure forever as she continues to drift away.
For anyone who has experienced this dreadful disease, it is heartbreaking to watch loved ones as they become someone new and unfamiliar to both you and them.
Research continues and walking in the 2021 Walk for Alzheimer's in her honor makes me feel like I am helping in some small way. If you feel so moved, please consider walking with me on October 3rd in Hartford or contribute to the fundraising.
