Here at Team Reuter's Rooters, the family, friends and admirers of Dick Reuter unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions. Join our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer's disease. Together, we can advance research to treat and prevent Alzheimer's, and provide programs to improve the lives of millions of affected Americans.

Joining is easy!! You can come walk with us in Sparks, or join as a virtual walker, there in spirit if not in person! You can also make a donation! All donations are appreciated, no matter how small or large, but you may join and walk with us even without a donation. Team Reuter's Rooters was started in 2010, while caring for my father, who had later stage Alzheimer's. Since that time, we have been lucky to have over a dozen different team members attend the Walk and have raised nearly $44,000 thus far  through January 12th, 2023... Since our family benefited from the support and education of our local chapter, as well as from the alz.org website, which holds a wealth of information, we know it was monies put to good use. In addition, my father participated in cutting edge diagnosis and treatment options which we hope helped his condition be more bearable, and were thanks to the efforts of past fundraisers. It is now our turn to "reclaim the future for millions"! Will you help? There are still many question marks as to what causes Alzheimer's, and if there is a genetic link, but every year more progress is made in unraveling its secrets, and this is all thanks to the funding provided by supporters like you. Your support also aids those currently dealing with the disease on a daily basis, which can be a taxing emotional and physical commitment.

Have you seen the 2015 Oscar winning performance illustrating the effects of Alzheimer's Disease of early onset in the movie "Still Alice"? Or the documentary film of Glen Campbell's demise from the same;he who was also nominated for a music Oscar for the touching soundtrack song "I'll Be Me"? We lost even more celebrities to Alzheimer's since, including the wonderful Gene Wilder, and  Alzheimer's has also claimed the lives of such iconic celebrities as Rita Hayworth, James Stewart, Charlton Heston, Rosa Parks, Norman Rockwell, Sugar Ray Robinson, Charles Bronson, Etta James and so many others, showing no discrimination of physical ability, talent, race or gender...

Did you know someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's every 65 seconds?! That the current number of 5.8 million affected is expected to reach 14 million by 2050, with a new diagnosis every 33 seconds if we do not change its course?! That of that 5.8 million, over 4% are younger onset, in their 40's and 50's?! That Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, and the only one in the top ten with no way to assuredly prevent, treat or cure at this time?! That the cost to our nation of caring for those with Alzheimer's last year surpassed $290 BILLION?! That will rise to $1.1 TRILLION by 2050 at current rate?! And that, sadly, for every one diagnosed with Alzheimer's, at least 9 more are affected as family, friends, caregivers and supporters...with a toll of not only care-giving costs, but over 40% depression and 59% reporting high stress levels care-giving...which has created over $10.2 BILLION in extra healthcare costs for caregivers dealing with Alzheimer's and other dementia...In 2015, 15.9 million caregivers provided more than 18.1 billion hours of unpaid care valued at $221.3 billion...WOW! These people need our support!
