I volunteer for the Alzheimer's Association walk because for 4 years my dad and I watched my late mom suffer with debilitating depression, confusion, and loss of appetite. Every year her doctor would say she had run every test in the book but did not know what was wrong. Finally after repeated trips to the ER with hallucinations she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Once we lowered the anti - depressants she stopped hallucinating. We had to figure out for ourselves how to care for mom.
I wish we knew about the Alzheimer's Association 24/7 hotline which is one of the important things the Alzheimer's Walk funds. We must find treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's and other Dementia's.
In 2020, Alzheimer's disease will cost the United States $305 billion. This number is projected to rise to more than $1.1 trillion in 2050. In 2019, more than 16 million caregivers of people living with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia's provided an estimated 18.6 billion hours of unpaid care, a contribution to the nation valued at more than $244 billion.
Please Join me in the Walk to End Alzheimer's so others wont suffer the way mom did and millions currently do. Thank you
