My husband, Ed, was diagnosed about 3 1/2 years ago with Alzheimer's disease. Team Parker is walking to support him and the research developments in discovering a cure for Alzheimer's.
Ed is 89 years old now and counting the days for his 90th birthday. He is a charming man with a thankful heart and his sense of humor is a real blessing. He lives in the moment, which proves to be hard at times because he requires constant reminders and often denies that he was told about what is happening. My iPad with family pictures on it is very valuable, as is his daily schedule and other short written reminders.
Ed has several family members who have had Alzheimer's, so this walk is in memory of them as well.
