Having a loved one stricken with Alzheimer's or dementia is heart wrenching. It is a relentless disease which destroys the brain and ultimately body functioning. I never understood how horrific this disease was until dad, who was always healthy, strong & had a keen mind, was diagnosed and steadily declined from Alzheimer's. He battled the disease for 11 years before passing away last October. Seeing him, and anyone else who so innocently suffers from Alzheimer's or any form of dementia, is extremely painful.

Because of our journey, and the incredible support the Alzheimer's Association provides, we continue to walk with the hope of helping bring an end to Alzheimers and all forms of dementia. The Association is phenomenal with their supportive staff, resources, educational opportunities, a 24/7 help line, support groups and their continued advanced research. I invite you to support our team by participating as a walker, making a donation or reaching out to help those who are in need of support and encouragement. We will continue to walk to honor my dad, those who have had or currently have the disease, for our caregivers, to help provide awareness and with continued gratitude for the Alzheimer's Association. Every step carries a story. Every step makes a difference. Together, all of our steps will help end Alzheimer's.
