My dad participated in an Alzheimer's research study... unfortunately it didn't have the results that they wanted. I saw a difference.. but there was not enough overall in the study to warrant it going further. We need a cure.. We need to stop this disease. I am walking to support my dad and the many others that suffer with Alzheimer's.
Dad is now on Hospice Care. He had a scary few weeks including a huge weight loss falling about 4 times in one week. He now has 24/7 caregivers in his Memory Care and has made some improvement. His words now are jumbled, he's confused, he cannot even find the bathroom and it is in his small studio room. This is not how he would want to live and it's not how anyone would want to live. This disease robs the person of so much including all their memories.
Edit: Dad passed away on 6/23/23. He got his wish and is now with my mom. I will continue to walk for a cure and raise awareness for Alzheimers and any other type of dementia.
This year my Sister Lu-Anne and nephew Brandon will travel to be with us in memory of our dad.
