Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia about 7 years ago now. He lives in a care facility in Calgary Canada. He is well taken care of there but it is still hard for me to be so far away. I send cards, letters and call whenever I can. But it is increasingly more difficult to communicate with dad. And it was hard on my mom being away from dad especially during COVID when she could not visit him. My mother passed away on September 18 2021 from lung and brain cancer and sadly my father does not realize that she is gone. However we have given him a little ceramic heart filled with her ashes that he keeps at his bedside to remember her as best he can.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
