Gentlepersons,

For the 7th year, on Sept. 23rd, I will be Walking to End Alzheimer's.  The Alzheimer's Assn., for whom I'm raising this money, has been very influential in the progress of research, education and governmental budgeting to fight the disease - a disease which is the only cause of death among the top10 in America -- & it is the 6th --(3rd in California)-- without a way to prevent nor cure it. 

Good News:  the FDA has approved a therapy, developed by 2 pharmaceutical companies, that slows the progression of this horrible disease by 27% in early diagnosis cases.  This is partially/or largely due to the Alzheimer's Assn's research grants and - dare I say - lobbying efforts.

Our next effort is to get Medicare to cover the cost of the  drug;  because for some reason, they have not; and the annual cost is $26,000!  We, including yours truly, will be advocating to Congress to apply pressure on CMMS - Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services, to accept this new therapy for coverage. 

So, as in the 6 years past, please reach deep into your pockets. and help me beat this awful disease.
