For the past several years, I have joined my brother-in-law, Bill Herrington and many of you at the Walk to end Alzheimer’s either in Green Valley or Tucson. This year, the walk will again be in Tucson on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Bill will be out of town so he has asked me to “captain” a team to keep the memory of our loved ones alive and to continue to support this very worthy cause. Barbara Simmons, a good friend and PPA support group member of Bill’s will also help me in our team “recruitment” efforts.
As you all may know my sister Susan Herrington died in 2022 after a long battle with a type of dementia called Primary Progressive Aphasia. Unfortunately, Susan is not my only experience with this disease. My mother, step-mother and mother-in-law all suffered from this disease later in life. Studies show that one in six people will be diagnosed with some form of dementia in their lifetime and many more caregivers, family and/ or friends will be affected by it.
There have been some promising results from the research currently being done but there is much left to do. Can I count on you for a small donation to help us continue the fight to find hope for a cure or at least a way to slow down this debilitating disease?
If you would like to join me on the walk October 28, 2023 at Reid Park in Tucson please register. Thank you all for your past and continued support of this worthy cause.
