Why I Walk?
My dad, Jake Graffeo, had dementia. It was a very difficult time for him and our family. My dad could tell you about when he was in school, he could tell you stories about the war and where he was stationed, and he did know our names. But to ask what he had for breakfast, or did you take your medicine or even what day it was he couldn’t tell you. As a caregiver it could be very tiring to repeat things over and over. And you would even catch yourself saying “don’t you remember I told you”.
This is for all the caregivers who are taking care of their loved ones. The days can be exhausting and at times overwhelming. Just know that you are not alone in this fight. There are programs and support groups that you can go to. That is what the Alzheimer’s Association is about as well as raising money to find a cure.
I am asking for your support to help me raise funds for research and a cure. Please donate today no matter the amount. Every dollar can make a difference for someone.
