The First Survivor. We all want to see those words. Today is the day to start the journey to find the first survivor. It is the day for all of us to make a difference! As a healthcare professional for many years, I have worked with families who have been dealing with Alzheimer's. From the early stage to the end stage and finally death, it is a long, scary, and exhausting journey. You don't know Alzheimer's until your family has lived it.

My husband's grandfather passed away a few summers ago from vascular dementia and had been in a memory care facility for several months before he passed. He was a funny guy who had a knack for growing the most beautiful tomatoes. The picture on this page is of him and my son. Dementia took him away long before his body gave out.
