Grandpa Steve Olinick
My Grandpa Steve lived with Alzheimer's for nearly 20 years. We saw him every day, but we barely knew him. My grandma was lucky to have the resources and support to take care of my grandfather at home as his health deteriorated, but the heartbreak that we all experienced from watching a loved one disappear in front of our eyes, even while they're still alive, was very deep; it affected the entire family and we carry it with us. Now my Aunt Marijane lives with the disease. We desperately want to end this cycle...for our family, and for all families facing Alzheimer’s and other dementia. It starts with awareness. Consider making a donation to my fundraising page or maybe register as a participant for the Alzheimer's Walk in your area. Or just start by Googling Alzheimer's so that you're armed with a little more information about what it is and the steps you can take to prevent it.
