Year 4. I recently celebrated my 45th birthday. My mom understood the importance of this date but believed it was her actual birthday. We got her a candle to celebrate. I often say, you have to laugh or else you’ll cry your eyes out. I generally choose laughter but it is a struggle to sugar-coat this awful disease.
She seems happier at her residential memory care facility now. I think she is safer too. Do I wish we had a better option? Yes, but there is no better option. One thing is for certain, I miss my mom.
Long before my mom’s diagnosis, Kyle and I were committed to raising funds for Alzheimer’s research and support for families in memory of Kyle’s grandmother and uncle who also suffered from this disease. Our family remains steadfast in our commitment towards Alzheimer’s funding. We hope you will consider making a donation Thank you.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
