Although I am not related to Ruth and she will never know my name the joy in her eyes when I give her a piece of candy, the way she holds my hand and chats with me (even though it is not coherent words anymore), and her smile when she's chatting with my daughter make me feel like part of her family. I will always remember her, good days and bad.
I wish I could do more to ease the struggle of taking care of a loved one but being a caregiver is not my career and too emotionally charged for me to do it full time. I hope that by participating in this fundraiser will raise enough money to help Alzheimer's Association to accelerate global research, and maximizing quality care and support that is so needed.
Many years ago I did the Walk to Remember alone. I would love to do this year's with a large team or friends and family who are also passionate about ending Alzheimer's. Please join my team, Penny for Your Thoughts and walk with me in the Arlington walk on October 1st 2022.
