At the age of 49, I was first diagnosed with Aphasia in April 2022. That was the – culprit for my word stealing (language part of brain). I started speech therapy. My verbal communications are better when I practice and talk to more people. In June, I visited the the doctor Mass Gen Hospital. I was been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s - they believe the Alzheimer's caused the Aphasia. I am on two meds to slow the Alzheimer's. Only 5% of Alzheimer's patients are under 65. The pathway may be different to the norm as I am only 49. I am excited to participate in a 3 year study – with more tests and scans. As a Researcher, it was easy to sign up.
My family is everything. I have to decided to live every day to the best I can. I am still working. I have family, friends and co-workers helping me. I am trying to reach out to more friends. Every day is a gift. And I am thrilled to walk and raise money for this for research and a cure!
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
