I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Last year, Alzheimer’s affected someone very close to me whom I love dearly. Instead of running from it, I decided to address it head on. I educated myself on the disease as much as I could, joined a caregiver’s support group, and received incredible education and support from the Alzheimer’s Association. I also vowed that I never wanted anyone to have this terrible disease affect them or their loved ones. I decided to do anything and everything I can to help end this disease once and for all. I am proud to say that one year later, I joined the Alzheimer’s Association Oklahoma Chapter’s Board of Directors. To say that I am passionate about this cause would be an understatement!
I am asking you to please support me in the fight against this disease. By supporting me, we can all stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s. Any amount you give is greatly appreciated, so please consider making a gift at whatever level works for you.
And, please know this. I am here for you in any way possible if you or a loved one is affected by this disease, either as a caregiver or the one suffering with the disease. Please reach out to me if you need more information about the disease, Alzheimer’s Association, caregiving, support groups, etc., or just need a sympathetic and empathic ear or shoulder. Know that I am here for you anytime you need me!
With love, David
