IMPORTANT WALK DAY DETAILS

Parking & Walk Route Information:

The Walk will be located at Lorain County Community College. There will be a one-mile and three-mile route available this year. Parking is available in lot #6. Refer to the button below to access the route and parking map.
When entering from Abbe Road onto College Drive turn left onto College Drive North, and continue on College Drive North around the fitness center to lot #6. When entering from Abbe Road onto Burns Road turn left onto College Drive, continue down College Drive, and take a right onto College Drive North, continue on College Drive North around the fitness center to lot #6. The Alzheimer’s Association registration tent will be located outside of the Field House in front of lot #6 marked with a sign and a purple tent. There will also be signage directing you to the appropriate parking space.

Promise Garden Ceremony: 9:45 am 
 
CHECK IN AT THE REGISTRATION TABLE TO RECEIVE THE ROUTE MAP, REGISTRATION BRACELET, AND ACTIVITY GUIDE.
 
Walk Day FAQ:
  • All participants should register prior to Walk day HERE.
  • All children must be registered.
  • Strollers, wheelchairs and wagons are welcome.
  • The Walk route and festivities are outdoors — please plan accordingly. Festivities will take place rain or shine. If there is rain, please join us inside of the field house. Please be aware that dogs are not welcome in the fieldhouse. 
  • Donations will be taken on Walk day via mobile payment and cash/check dropbox.
  • Be sure to wear your purple and carry your Walk flags! Take a selfie or photo of your team and post on social media using #Walk2EndALZ and #ENDALZ.
  • Animal are welcome this year! You won't be able to take them inside the fieldhouse. 
Activities During Registration: 

+Promise Garden: Pick up your promise garden flower for the ceremony and hold it high during the Walk. Thanks to Kendal at Oberlin, you will also need to pick up your Forget Me Not flower seed packets. 

+Care Corner: If you're caregiving or have ever caregave for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia, stop by our care corner. Thanks to Kendal at Home, there will be massage therapists giving massages and soothing bath bomb to take home with you! 

+Kids Zone: This year we will be making purple slime! Also, there will be a facepainter. 

+Why I Walk: Stop at the Why I Walk station and fill in your "Why". My "Why" is my Grandpa Al who my family lost over two years ago. Thanks to Busch Funeral Homes for sponsoring this area!

+Warming Up Station: Grab a cup of coffee or hot cocoa for the kids! Thanks to Skolnik for providing the coffee and hot cocoa. 

+Vendors: Vendor booths will be placed around the outer perminter of the pre-walk activitiy area. Stop by and chat with them about the services they offer.
