Alzheimer's impacts so many people, and not just those fighting the disease. Those who care for, support, and love someone with Alzheimer's also deal with battles of their own. Two of the most important people in our lives fought this disease up until the very end, Felix and Sue. We walk to honor them; we walk because we love and support them; we walk because we miss both of them every single day; we walk to raise awareness; and we walk in hope that one day we can find a cure to this memory-stealing disease.
Felix took his last breath here on Earth on August 19, 2018. Although Alzheimer's did not take him from us, he still battled the disease up until the very end. Felix was an Italian Immigrant who came to this Country in search of a better opportunity and was so proud of his United States Citizenship. After coming to the States with almost nothing, he built a career, a company, and most importantly a very large family! We are an extremely close family and to watch one of the strongest men we know struggle with his memory was heartbreaking. We would have done anything to help him and give him the ability to remember the things he constantly forgot. We walk to honor his memory and his legacy.
Sue, lost her battle with this horrific disease this year on March 15, 2021. Her kindness and generosity were still apparent up until her final days. This past year was so hard, Covid made getting to see her dangerous and because of that, we lost so much precious time with her. Alzheimer's took her from us and Covid stole time we can never get back. We walk to honor her memory and for the hope that no other family ever has to go through what we have gone through.
Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we. Join our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. If you are unable to join us in September at the Walk to End Alzheimer's, please consider making a donation to support the cause.
