We are gearing up for the 2022 Westchester Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and I invite you to join my team, Sally’s Soldiers, and donate and/or wak with us on Sunday, October 2, 2022.
I walk for my mother and my daughters’ grandmother, Sally Factor, who is living with Alzheimer’s. The disease has completely taken away her memory and ability to live on her own and has also taken her from us.
While we raised an extraordinary amount of money in 2021, the fight continues.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and by 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million.
In 2022, Alzheimer’s and other dementia are estimated to cost the nation $321 billion and by 2050, these costs could reach nearly $1 trillion.
More than 11 million Americans provide unpaid dementia care and in 2021, caregivers provided more than 16 billion hours of care valued at nearly $272 billion.
For more information about the burden of Alzheimer's and other dementia on individuals, caregivers, government and the nation's health care system, please see the Alzheimer's Association 2022 annual report entitled "2022 Alzheimer's Facts and Figures" at https://www.alz.org/media/Documents/alzheimers-facts-and-figures.pdf.
