I'm walking to help raise funds for Alzheimer's Research. We are close to finding a way to diagnose Alzheimer's in early stages. Yes, we eventually recognize that our loved ones have dementia. My brother Jerry, recognized his own loss of abilities to carry out every day events when he was only 66 years old . His time left with us was too short. He died just two months before his 69th birthday. My mother-in-law, Helen, fought hard not to recognize she was losing her memory and her ability to handle every day life. Although she lived several more years, she fought hard, but lost the fight and eventually the will to live.
Jerry recognized and accepted the fact that he had dementia and still he continued to be the fun loving and good humored soul he always was. Helen on the other hand would never accept the fact that she had dementia and became angry and resentful when she began to lose the capability to handle every day life.
I walk to help raise funds for research to find the cure. Please help by donating to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's'
