I’m 43 years old. I have taken thousands of photos like this one. The idea that I could one day struggle to recognize my wife and 2 sons is a sobering one.
I recently learned of a 49-year-old dad who now finds himself in this exact situation. His sons are applying to college and I can’t even imagine what may lie ahead for their family.
While I always felt that this was an “old people problem,” I’m now keenly aware of the major impact that Alzheimer’s and Dementia has on millions of families in this country. As difficult as the road is for the individual, perhaps an equal or greater challenge is bestowed on the caregiver.
There are 11 Million caregivers in the US. 60% of these caregivers are between the ages of 35-64. THIS AGE GROUP is caring for parents, caring for children and on a good day, caring for themselves. As a result, attracting and keeping key contributors in the workforce is yet another glaring way in which this disease hits home.
I encourage you to please JOIN MY TEAM, make a donation if you’re able and contact me about some other exciting opportunities that I'm working on to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's and Dementia.
Thank you,
Abe Falek
