WHY I WALK
Two years ago (right before Thanksgiving)I said my final Goodbye to Grandma. Sadly, though, she started to leave us long before then. She was an incredible woman. She is the reason I know how to sew and love to bake. She made the best peach pie you could imagine. And she's the reason I know what it's like to roller skate inside.
And, she is the reason I'm so passionate about the Alzheimer's Association. Watching a loved one lose themselves is a struggle I wish on no one. It takes a toll on everyone. Grandma, you never got to see me in my wedding dress. You never really met Abby. And you didn't really understand when you heard we were expecting Gregory. Looking back, I wish I had written down every recipe, recorded every laugh, and photographed every smile. I just hope you are watching over us, and are finally able to understand the love you created within our family.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's(R). Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
