I miss my Grandmom and walk for her. Alzheimer's took her from us. We watched her change over years, months, weeks, then days. She was kind, caring, generous, loving and so much more. She glued our family together. In the end she was still a joy to be with, but in a much different and little bit sad way.
I miss my Dad and walk for him. He is physically still here, but struggles with Lewy body dementia. Every second of Every day he is stuck inside his head with horrible thoughts he can't control. He is scared and alone, even though surrounded by love. His decline is each day now. There is no way to stop the progression. As I care for him, I struggle each day as well. He was kind, caring, generous and strong. He is my Dad, but not recognizable as the man I knew.
I walk for them both. With the hope that one day there will be an end to Alzheimer's and dementia.
Please make a donation, help lead the way to Alzheimer's / dementia's first survivor.
If you can walk on Oct 23, come join us!!
Love and Thanks, Rachel
